The Flaming Creatures III Parade
Flaming Creatures III Parade will occur on Governors Island on October 18th, 2025 at 6pm (or when darkness arrives). Celebrating the species of Governors Island and the celestial bodies - this parade will be flow with illuminated costumes, sculptural luminaries, floats, projections upon buildings and more. Join 250 people to parade this year and cannot wait to celebrate with you. Prizes will given for best individual costume, best group costume and best Gov Island artist house participation.
Parade Day
⏰ 2:30pm Workshop!! Get in there and help assemble the lanterns and costumes building with Sally Beauti Twin and friends.
⏰ 3:30pm Junkanooacome: Da Red Set, by Jodie Lyn-Kee-Chow, and inflatable art by Mookntaka with projections by Jarid Blue.
⏰ 6:00pm PARADE TIME met at the Liggett Hall Arch!
The parade will be led by top NYC musicians, string and wind instruments with percussion led by Laura Ortman & Jonno Lamont (Black Star Creations). Projections and lights will be green powered with 1000s of LEDs and solar charged batteries.
Our route will feature the Governors Island waterfront at night with river sounds and city light backdrops. The parade will proceed through projections in Ligget Terrace Arch and finish wrapping around Castle Williams.
This will Sally Beauti Twin’s 6th Governors Island species parade with GI Arts as a last 3rd Saturday event. All are invited to select a unique species (from the 11160 observed at the island on iNaturalist) and make a costume at our workshops or select one off our rack. All participants will be given spectacular light art to carry.
