We are looking for a team of dynamic individuals who love dance & arts, building community and being outdoors surrounded by the beauty of nature. We’d love for you to join us in showing our city some love!

On the lawns of Governors Island, we offer dance, Tai-Chi/QiGong, yoga, and arts classes for the city community and our global visitors free of charge. DuYe aims to celebrate culture, community and education through cultural exchange.

Our programs are donation based as to remove barriers to participation and ensure that everyone in the community has the opportunity to engage in creative expression.

  • House Managers will guide the operations of Team Vibez and Team Snapz as the primary liaison between DuYe staff during events, ensuring smooth execution of all activities. You'll be the point person for volunteer coordination, problem-solving, and maintaining the high energy and welcoming atmosphere of DuYe Moves events.

    Duties

    • Coordinate with Programs to confirm and communicate programs and event

    • Supervise and coordinate Team Vibez and Team Snapz during events

    • Lead Circle Up sessions before each event to assign tasks and communicate goals

    • Setup and breakdown as needed

    • Monitor event flow and redirect volunteer efforts when necessary

    • Compile post-event notes with participation info and volunteer feedback

    Team Leaders are problem solvers that have previous event management or leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for community arts programming.

    Schedule House Managers are needed for weekend events with the day starting at 11am. Shifts are 6-7 hours. 

  • As part of our Team Griot, will help build Duye Moves’s identity by capturing the moments. You'll craft compelling social media content that captures the essence of DuYe Moves to develop our online presence, engage with our community, and help spread the word about our events and mission through creative storytelling across platforms. We’re looking for creative individuals with experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing. Strong writing skills and visual eye are essential. Knowledge of social media best practices and analytics is valuable.

    Duties

    • Create and implement social media campaigns for programs & events

    • Engage with followers through comments and messages

    • Collaborate with Team Snapz to select and edit the most impactful visual content

    • Develop promotional materials for digital distribution

    • Attend at least one event per month to coordinate with Team Snapz and experience the events firsthand. 

    • Team meetings to plan content strategy.

    Schedule

    • Events & Classes are primarily on the weekend with the day starting 11 am

    • Shifts are 5 - 6 hours

    • Content creation remotely or at onsite office

  • Team Vibes welcomes guests, gathers email sign-ups, engaging with the public, outdoor set-up, counting participants, and other tasks assigned by DuYe Team.

    Duties

    • Outdoor set-up/breakdown; lay out blankets, pillow, baby drums/djembes, etc.

    • Engage with the public in a friendly and approachable manner to promote our events

    • Count of participants

    • Distribute promotional materials such as flyers and brochures

    • Participate in dance/art classes, if needed

    • Email Sign-ups; collect contact information from interested visitors 

    • Provide feedback and insights gathered from interactions with the public to improve future promotional efforts
