Pixels in Perspectives
About the Show
“Pixels in Perspective” explores the distance between inherited narratives and lived experience. Through digital paintings, I examine the Black perspective—not as a single story, but as a history of resilience, contradiction, and the search for identity.
Many of these works ask difficult questions about faith, memory, and power. For countless enslaved Africans, religion arrived alongside chains, offered by those who denied their humanity while preaching salvation. It is a paradox that continues to echo through generations: how do we reconcile a faith that has brought hope and spiritual strength with the history of its use as a tool of control?
The pixel, often dismissed as the smallest element of an image, reminds us that every story is built from countless fragments of truth. When viewed together, those fragments reveal a fuller picture—one that challenges us to see history, faith, and humanity through a different lens.

About the Curator
Suede Jenkins is a Brooklyn-based audio/visual artist whose work weaves original music, moving images, and visual art into intimate narrative worlds. Drawing from lived and observed experience, his practice explores what it means to be a Black man in love with her—a presence that becomes his heart, his art, and his soul—within an evolving and uncertain world. Through story-driven performance and imagery, Jenkins creates space for tenderness, reflection, and emotional truth in public life.
