Porch Concert: Betty’s Story

Betty’s Story is a multimedia musical tribute to the legendary Betty Mabry Davis, created and performed by singer, guitarist, and bandleader Nucomme. Bold, raw, and unapologetically ahead of her time, Betty exploded onto the early ’70s scene with a sound and presence that redefined what it meant to be a woman in music.

A pioneer of jazz-funk fusion, Betty released three electrifying albums steeped in sensuality, power, and rebellion before vanishing from the spotlight. As the ex-wife and muse of Miles Davis, and a contemporary of Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone, her fingerprints are all over Bitches Brew and echoed in the audacious artistry of icons like Grace Jones, Patti LaBelle, and Prince.
